Sour Cream Dressing

I wanted to share a quick, delicious, seriously fresh dressing recipe with you. It is so easy to make and perfect for everything from dips, to dressing, to a quick sauce over fish or chicken (especially if you add a bit of dill).

Tip: To shave a few calories, look for reduced fat sour cream (be sure to look out for hidden ingredients that might up the sugar).

This recipe is gluten-free, sugar-free, ovo-lacto vegetarian friendly, and is even Atkins induction friendly if you stick to 2 Tbsp of the dressing per day (which reduces the carb amount to 1.4 net carbohydrates) as well.

You could add anything to this dip, from fresh summer veggies to bacon. I even used the dressing on this stuffed ham.

Sour Cream Dressing

1 cup sour cream
2 Tbsp white vinegar
4 Tbsp chopped sweet yellow onion
1/4 tsp organic sea salt
1/4 tsp black milled pepper

Prepare sour cream dressing by combining sour cream, vinegar, salt, onion and pepper in a bowl. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Keep refrigerated.

Makes 1 cup.

  1. Hey Jamie! Sounds gorgeous! Only, I think I would be tempted to use chives and not yellow onion….or at least red onion but that’s my own personal addiction :) Am deffo trying this soon though!Greetings from miraculously sunny Amsterdam x

I make a cream cheese(instead of sour cream) spread with the same ingredients with the addition of very finely chopped cucumber, chives. it is fantastic as a veggie dip or on some type of low carb bread or crackers. I never actually measure anything, but i make sure the cucumber is chopped and then wrapped in a kitchen towel for at least 30 minutes to absorb as much moisture as possible. When I have all the main ingredients (as above) i add a lot of freshly chopped dill. People fight at parties to get the last canape on the tray with this sandwich filling on it. Your recipe reminds me I need to make some very soon. Your dressing will be at the top of my list as it has everything I love in a dressing in it. thanks!

    This looks divine!! I’m already thinking…. dallop on loaded broccoli, loaded cauliflower, and thin out with lemon juice to drizzle over roasted asparagus and salmon! Ooooh and dallop into a bowl of my caramelized winter squash soup! Thanks so much for posting this!

  7. I usually use chives, which I have in my garden, but will do the onions. I have never used the vinegar but will try. It is nice to know can be used on Atkins.
