Yes, I titled this post “Overbaked”… No, I’m not taking advantage of Colorado’s recently-passed legalization of marijuana. And I tend to stay out of the sun, too.
I slept in a little too long this morning and my latest crock pot recipe is a little more golden than I’d hoped. I can’t believe I schlepped in! Thankfully, the dish is delicious, and I am thrilled to share it with you very soon.
I ordered a new stove tonight from Home Depot. I’m going with a simple coil element burner since I use cast iron pans almost exclusively and because I’m tired of worrying about scratching the last ceramic top I had. The one non-negotiable? Self-cleaning oven. I am no good without it. I also love that Home Depot delivers, sets up and removes my old stove–all for free!
I won’t get the stove until next Wednesday, so I will either be sharing some grilling and crock pot recipes, along with some fun cookie and dessert recipes, or I’ll be doing some stove top cooking with a small one-burner hotplate I bought. That or I’m phoning in some favors and using my friend’s oven.
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.

I ate this:
Breakfast: New recipe I’ll share with you super soon!
Lunch: Skipped because breakfast was so filling
Dinner: A bite of flank steak to test a disappointing marinade + 2 bites of the new recipe I’m sharing soon.
Exercise: Walked a lot between Home Depot and the other store instead of driving. Holla!
Notes: I bought a new oven tonight. I hope it comes quickly. I needs it.
What I learned:
Clamp lights from Home Depot make terrific photography lighting.

Hooray for clamp lights!
Congrats on the new stove!

Did you post a crockpot recipe this morning? I could have SWORN I saw a crockpot breakfast email. I clicked on the link but it said page not found. I have been looking for it all morning!!
Jamie VanEaton says
Hi! I am really sorry about that. The recipe posted prematurely! I was so mad when that happened. I didn’t realize emails had gone out, either. Grrr… I will be posting that one in a couple of days.
Marjie says
Thank God! I thought I was going crazy!! :). I’ll be looking forward to seeing the final product.

I went almost 2 months without my stove/oven waiting for the new gas one to be picked out then hooked up – Thank God for electric skillets, crockpot, and an electric burner … But I was so glad when my stove got hooked up and I could use more than one burner and the oven 😉

I am so there! I love my electric cook top, microwave, grill and crock pot, but I am an instant gratification girl when it comes to cooking. I want my oven back!
