Review: Green&Black's Organic Dark 85% Bar

Oops. I opened this one prior to photographing. Temptress chocolate.

There’s something to the earthy, dark notes of something tall dark and handsome sitting on your counter with sultry eyes. And so Green & Black’s Organic Dark 85% Bar hits the mark immediately with its sexy packaging and it’s 85% dark cacao promises.

Promising 12 perfectly pert squares per serving ensures the feeling of decadence. After all, even if small, how often do you get 12 squares of chocolate from one serving at only .75 net carbs per square? Many bars offer less squares per package, while the abundant nubs of beauty in this package take the textural and visual beauty a step further.

The Ingredients for this environmentally (and farmer) conscious chocolate bar are simple: Organic Cocoa Mass, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Fat-Reduced Cocoa Powder, Organic Raw Cane Sugar, Organic Vanilla Extract, Organic Whole Milk Powder, * Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin.

Sure, there’s a titch pof sugar in there, but compared to the more dubious maltitol with its higher glycemic load, you might just find that the sweetest sweet comes in the smallest amounts of real sugar over some of the processed choices available.

This chocolate’s flavor is immediately rich and buttery, lending itself to a more fruity, acidic undertone, followed with a deliciously creamy finish. Eating this chocolate isn’t just a snack–it’s a decadent experience.

Rating: ♥♥♥♥

  1. I think G&B is one of my favorites. A nice treat is to spread coconut butter and a dab of almond butter on that for a "mock Almond Joy"

  2. Yummmm…I made a chocolate mousse yesterday with a bar of G & B 85%, a bar of G & B 70%, eggs, water and 2T. of Kaluha. That is a incredible low carb dessert. So richly chocolate-y that you are happy with a small serving. Oh yes, there were fresh raspberries on top!

  3. Susannah, recipe please?
