Mornings I’m usually scrambling more than my eggs. Four kids, a husband, a dog that thinks the neighborhood needs to be monitored, and a cat with an extreme case of ambivalence–it’s a lot to manage.
Thankfully, a beauty regimen that begins on the inside doesn’t take a lot of fuss. I know this from experience: I’ve not only lost 90 pounds in only 6 months with my beauty regimen, with more even weight falling away, I look more radiant, healthy, and have more energy than ever. Want to know my not-so-secrets?
Beauty is in the foods I eat.
What I eat contributes to my health/beauty. I keep my processed carbohydrates extremely limited, opting, instead, for healthy, whole saturated fats and fresh fruits and vegetables by season. I especially love healthy, delicious green olives, nuts, seeds, Greek yogurt, bacon, and grass-fed meat. I’ll share more on this Thursday. Stay tuned!
It’s in the water I drink.
Getting plenty of liquids, especially in Colorado, and keeping my skin supple and moist is as easy as drinking unsweetened herbal tea, and moisturizing with coconut oil or butter.
It’s in the way I smile.
Humor. If I’m not laughing, I’m not living. I also love brushing my teeth to keep that smile beautiful and white. With just a simple paste of baking soda and peppermint oil (and a little peroxide occasionally for yellowing teeth), I keep up dental health in just a minute.
It’s in the way I sashay.
Walking at my treadmill desk. Why not work and walk? A mile per hour burns a ton of calories and emails, my favorite card game, and visits with friends helps me forget that it’s even healthy. I’ll go more in detail this week.
And because of my revised lifestyle, with just a couple of minutes to spare, I can pop in my contact lenses, cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize. I typically don’t bother with makeup; thanks to my low-carbohydrate diet, my skin is typically blemish-free.
I use a boar bristle bush to naturally distribute hair oils from root throughout the hair for even healthier hair.
Taking care of myself gives me the energy to not only take even better care of myself, it gives me the vavoom I need to take care of those around me. And you can’t help but notice that kind of glow from the inside out.
Now, it’s actually healthy to wash your hair every day. AVEENO® PURE RENEWAL lets you renew your hair to its naturally balanced state daily. Unlike ordinary shampoos, these sulphate-free formulas have Balancing Seaweed Extract; bringing hair back to its naturally healthy, most balanced state with each wash, for beautifully healthy-looking hair.

A SIMPLE ……….AMEN TO THAT ONE GLADYS……THIS LITTLE GAL IS TOPS WITH ME…….A JEWEL…..FOR ALL OF US.
I say remarkable achievement but my cat is pretty ambivalent on the whole deal. Thank you for the early morning positive message. It is so easy for me to lose my sense of gratitude.
So what is that tantalizing picture at the top of the post?? Hope it is healthy and low carb, but it looks like fries!??
JBS
Hey there! Those are daikon fries, and they are totally healthy and amazing!
YAY! Now I need to go find out what daikon is and where I can find it. Thanks.
I find daikon in the produce/root/tuber area of the grocery store with the rutabagas and the turnips. I’ll be sharing a few, new, cool recipes for daikon, too!
Ok is there a recipe for the daikon. What does it taste like? Looks really good
There will be soon! I haven’t published it yet…
Is daikon similar in taste to radishes? Does cooking them this way tame the bite or is it totally different?
Hi! Daikon is like radish, but it’s not bitey like a regular, red radish. Boiling the daikon removes a lot of the gamey quality.
Ok thanks. Anxiously awaiting the fry recipe.
aww I like this mentality and I totally needed to hear this positive message today 🙂
Hi,
I found your blog a month or so ago and have really enjoyed reading and trying out some new recipes! I had good success with a low carb lifestyle about 2 years ago, then I fell off the wagon and am having a hard time getting back on 🙂
Thanks for sharing your story/journey with everyone. I look forward to more!
Happy Spring!
Karen
Love it!
Thank-you dear, you keep MY smile bright and shiny….
that and LC cheesecakes… <3
I’ve been following you periodically. Thank you for what you share. Congratulations on your weight loss. We have been eating low carb since nov. 2012 but neither of us have lost that much weight maybe 15 lbs. we each have an easy 30 to lose. Maybe we need to move more. I’m having issues with one of my feet. I have tried coconut oil on my face for a moisturizer but I think it is actually drying my already dry skin. So strange. I like it as a makeup remover and face wash and leg shaving. I am struggling finding a good moisturizer that keeps my face skin moist. I tried olive oil for two years.
