Hello! Are you already out finding some good post-Thanksgiving deals?
I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving and enjoyed your day! Today is just another day with more opportunities to fuel your body, so drink plenty of water and be nice to you, especially if you are overcoming some carbohydrate hangover from yesterday.
I had more yams and cranberry sauce than I meant to have, but I loved it, and I used it as an opportunity to see if it caused me any problems in terms of crazy hunger pangs or other symptoms of allergy/intolerance. They didn’t! I really enjoyed what I had, even though I had three slices of yam, and I really only meant to have one. I am up a pound, but that’s okay! It was worth every bite.
A friend gave me a fun gift card for Ace awhile back, so I finally spent the money for some kitchen things! I bought a cute sundae cup for staging foods, a new paddle type attachment for my Kitchenaid and a new pastry blender (mine looks really hilariously bad). I spent over an hour looking at everything they carry in kitchens. They have so much to look at. I wanted everything… Even the pink Christmas tree (don’t judge)…
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.
Friday, November 23
I ate this:
Breakfast: Late lunch of cottage cheese + green olives+ sunflower seeds + shredded Parmesan
Lunch: Taco Star 2/3 of their nachos + chips
Dinner: Skipped! Huge lunch
Exercise: Moving furniture, cleaning and sorting
Notes: Oof! Today feels like Saturday, not Friday!
What I learned:
Tastes change, so make sure to try new things from time to time.
I never could have said I like cranberry sauce in the past, but now I love it.
Hey Jamie! Happy belated turkey day! I ate so many carbs last week, but today is the start of 20 per day until Christmas, so I can see 10 lbs of fat loss. I didn’t like pumpkin, but been a fan for over 10 years and counting.
I’m so glad that I’m not alone in being attracted to kitchen gadgets! Both my husband and I are cooks and we share that particular fetish, erm, um, “Attraction” regarding kitchen gadgets. When we were on vacation in East Glacier Park, MT, we stopped at the “Spoon Guy’s” shop – and I bought a handmade wooden spoon. For $32!! (But it’s a seriously wonderful spoon, fits my hand just right, and makes stirring a breeze.) But, yes, I understand. 🙂
I think a quality kitchen item is worth more money, especially considering the number of times I had to replace an item I didn’t spend enough on… Your spoon sounds fabulous!
I love cranberry sauce too now that I make my own, well, it’s more like cranberry salad. It has a little chopped apple and some nuts in it. Yum. I ate some of everything so I am going to have to get back on track. it was delicious! And I’m worth it!
It’s hard to feel guilty about something as healthy as cranberry sauce… I had some yams, too!
I know I’m way late on the mid year challenge…..like 90 some odd days late, however, I’m jumping in to see what kind of dent I can put on my 40lb goal by January 14th. That will be the day I step foot on a college campus for the first time after 3 kids and 20 years!! I’m nervous enough about going back and if I can at least feel good about how I look maybe that will help!?!?!?! So…..I’m IN. 🙂
Sounds great! Please check your email.
