Ever suspect you might have issues with dairy?
Some reasons to cut back: Cheese tends to be calorically dense, cheese as a moldy food feeds any yeast overgrowth in the body, cheese contains lactose, many have hidden intolerance or allergy to lactose, causing bloating, stomach upset and diarrhea.
How can you cut back without depriving yourself totally?
1. Allot yourself an amount shredded at the beginning of the day and divide it out.
2. Choose cheese every other day.
3. Make these cheese straws to extend your cheesy pleasure.
4. Add cheese post-baking to limit the amount but still get the flavor.
5. Use stronger, aged cheeses for greater punch.
6. Use coconut milk or almond milk in dishes when possible instead of cream.
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.

I ate this:
Breakfast: Large pepperoni slices
Lunch: Sharp cheddar + olives + nuts
Dinner: Taco Star Super Nachos minus the chips
Exercise: Does grocery shopping count? Nevermind, because I only exercised my brain power today working through some editing and writing projects.
Notes: When I’m working, I typically grab finger foods so I can keep working. Trying to edit a manuscript with a fork in my hand becomes more dangerous. 😀
What I learned:
Have a couple of rough days over the holidays? Put the scale away.
The scale only confirms what you already know (wayer weight gain due to inflammation), so why not just start with a mental blank slate and get back on track? I mean, you already know that your clothes are feeling more loose again, right? Your ankles are showing definition again. Why focus on the numbers at this point?
Do what you know is working for you. When the scale’s not in your favor and you’re doing everything right, put it away for a few days.
You won’t regret the lack of information, especially when you’re back on track–and that’s the important thing.
