Happy New Rear!
I hope 2013, for you, will be as positively tremendous and amazing as it can be.
Now for the final weigh-in for 2012 and for the Mid-Year Resolution Challenge!
(Ermagerd. You know I’m jumping right to that. I have no patience).
Who wants to know how I did? Oh me! Me! I am sitting here, wiggling in my seat and throwing my hand in the air like Richard Simmons Sweatin’ to the Oldies.
I am so so excited to report that since August 31, 2012 until December 31, 2012, I have lost: 66 pounds!
Total for all of our friends so far in this Mid-Year Resolution Challenge: 1551.53 pounds!
I am so stinking excited. Yeah, while I set out thinking it’d be all peachy keen to lose 100 pounds between August 31 and December 31, I still made it 2/3 of the way there. That, my friends, is progress. And, speaking of progress, I still plan to behave, especially since I need to weigh in next week, too! I still attend TOPS every week and am excited to continue to report how I’m doing as we move forward into the new year.
Tonight we’re having friends over for New Year’s Eve. That means pizza, chips, dip and pies! I am going to maybe take a bite here or there of something I really want to taste, but knowing what gluten does to me means I don’t want to do that to myself. That, and I ate so much of the Taco Star nachos that I am stuffed. I feel like I am going to explode–but in a good way. If that’s possible.
For all of us, tonight is about celebrating our journeys and looking forward to the new year.
No longer am I thinking about what I wish I had done.
Tomorrow I am going to wake up happy and renewed.
Remember to make memories tonight, and celebrate you.
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.
Monday, December 31
I ate this:
Breakfast: Nothing. I am trying to catch up on NYE!
Lunch: Taco Star Nachos with the corn chips (wew hew)
Dinner:
Exercise: I am running around cleaning the house for company tonight.
Notes: I was craving so many foods yesterday, but I’m glad that even though it was so hard I didn’t cave! I would have hurt my weight loss. The Whooshie Fairy is always so kind to all of the good girls and boys of the world. She’s like the Great Pumpkin, only with slimmer ankles.
What I learned:
I am so excited, for the first time in years, about New Year’s Day!
Because of my mental shifts regarding health and weight loss (it’s about health and not just using diet as a crash course in melting fat), and because I took action on August 31, I have made so much progress in so many ways.
No matter what you learn in the new year, make every moment a learning moment. Have no regrets and do you. You are worth the struggles, even when they’re annoying and you just almost don’t care anymore.
I look forward to continuing this journey with you tomorrow morning.
It’s another day to be fabulous, everyone! In other words, it’s another day to be you.

Congratulations on your success. Your excitement is infectious!
We were at a house party last night and because I have committed to the chaloenge, I was a bit nervous, but managed to feel not deprived as I chose carefully and today I am flying high as I am feeling more confident than ever. Overcoming little obstacles make you(me) feel big and not in the sense of size….So to all my new friends, Happy New Year and 2013 is going to be the year for us. I know it!
Sincerely, Nancy
Jamie VanEaton says
Nancy, I am so proud of you! Your determination and struggles make me even more proud, because I know how positively proud of yourself and elated you must feel.
Jeanette says
You totally rock chick! 66 pounds is INCREDIBLE! Seriously, IMPRESSIVE! More importantly, being happy and healthier! Gotta love that!
Jamie VanEaton says
Thanks so much!
Karen says
Woohoo! Jamie! (I think I found some of those pounds, the owners can claim them at any time! ) I am getting back on the wagon! You know how awesome I think you are!
Jamie VanEaton says
I think you’re pretty special myself.

KIm Eidson says
you did a great job, girl! Keep it up! I am finally, it seems, firmly under 150 lbs for the first time in 20 years. I wanted to join the new challenge, but it seems I’m kinda a 0.2 here and there loser for these last 10-15 lbs that I really didn’t want to bore you guys…but I’m watching and cheering all of you on to those big losses!
Jamie VanEaton says
Kim– you are an inspiration and are always welcome. I don’t care if you lose a fraction of a pound a week or month. You’re more or less trickling into maintenance, the way you’re supposed to. I am so so so proud of all of your hard work.
Julie Baker says
Hey, I can’t find the recipe for the star Taco nachos. I found the break down of carbs etc. But am interested to know what it is. I am new so forgive if you have given before.
Jamie VanEaton says
Hi, Julie! There is no recipe as yet. I buy nachos twice a week from my favorite Mexican Food place. It’s their food. I could easily replicate it, but it’s like my guilty pleasure. I will see what I can do!
Ivonne says
Congrats Jamie! That is Awe-mazing! Happy New Year to you and yours! I know you will keep inspiring all of us with your success and amazing recipes!
cheers,
Ivonne
Jamie VanEaton says
Thank you so much for your support and kind words, Ivonne! I appreciate them so much!
Duzzi says
Happy New Rear, Jamie! lol..wishing the best to you and yours for 2013
Jamie VanEaton says
Same to you, Duzzi! I wish all of the happiness you can muster in the coming year. May it be so great you need a bigger world to contain all of it!
MargieAnne says
Wow! Stinking excited. That’s a new expression to me but says it all.
Congratulations.
Am I reading right? Your friends lost more than three quarters of a ton in anyone’s language.
I am having trouble loading your spreadsheet. Do I have to sign in or something.
I’d really like to be part of the next segment. We appear to have no special commitments for that period and I am getting my act together for a Push.
Blessings
Jamie VanEaton says
Hi, MargieAnne! We all lost that much, you’re right! Close to a ton! And it was our last challenge people here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AueL3Xw7XIkTdGtBeGFHdy14ZXFsYjZtbVN1R1Y4UGc#gid=0
Now we have the new challenge. You shouldn’t have to sign in, no. I have it set up that anyone in the challenge can edit. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ai8RiTHjSJs8dDFhSmtOOHJ2MExiRjN3dk10bDUyQkE#gid=0\
Lynn Marie Millette says
WOW you did so great! So awesome of you.
Jamie VanEaton says
Thank you so much! I am so proud of everyone. I am going to start exercising more so that I can really push for some better losses this year. I got pretty lax with the treadmill desk.
Cheryl says
Congrats on your weight loss and new lease on life. May 2013 bring you rich blessings and keep up the writing.
Thanks for all you do:)
Jamie VanEaton says
Hi, Cheryl! Thank you so much–nd Happy New Rear to you, too. I am definitely keeping up the writing. I am so glad you like what I have to say!
Suzanne Brown says
Congrats! Thats so awesome!! I discovered your site a couple of days ago. I have been reading your 4 month challenge. I did low carb for 3 months and lost 20 pds. I was getting discouraged because I wasn’t losing more. But after reading Atkins induction, I realize now that I was eating to many daily carbs. I was worried my age (58) was working against me. I signed up for your challenge and I’m so motivated. I can’t wait to try your bacon pizza!
Jamie VanEaton says
Hi, Suzannne! I am so glad you’re in with us! I remember seeing your name on the spreadsheet because it’s such a pretty name. I am so proud of all of the weight you’ve lost so far. It’s all an amazing journey, isn’t it?
Chocolate Rose says
Jamie, you have done a totally awesome job of sticking to your guns! Congratulations!!
When do we get to see before and after photos??
Jamie VanEaton says
Thank you–and believe you me, there will be pictures, just as soon as I can fit my wide butt into one frame and not two. When I lose more, you’re going to wish I’d put the camera away!
philis says
Incredibly good progress!
Thankfully, you are going to wake up happy because I always have a smile on my face reading your cleverly expressed posts. You are a comedian. Happy New Year to you and your family. Philis
Jamie VanEaton says
That is so nice of you, you almost think I paid you to say that. *finishes writing the check*… *slips it into your pocket with a wink*
Happy New Rear to you, Philis! Here is to another year of amazing possibilities–and things gone terribly wrong that I can write about.
Beth says
Congratulations! You are amazing!
Jamie VanEaton says
You are so kind! Thanks so much.
Mary says
Jamie, I just love your positive energy and I’m sending you a huge hug and congratulations on 66 lbs. ‘gone”!
Personally, I am aiming for a 25 lb. weight loss by June 1 and since my birthday is New Year’s Day, I believe that I have a double incentive to make a comittment to myself Jan. 1. 🙂 I’m a lover of the low carb lifestyle and with your unbelievable recipes, I’m gonna do this thing up right!
Happy New Year to you and I’m so glad I found you! 🙂
Sincerely,
Your Canadian friend,
Mary
ps. I’m the silly one who sent you the low carb poem. lol!
Jamie VanEaton says
I loved that poem!
I am with you on being marvelous by Summer. I had to finally throw away my saggy, baggy swimsuit that had no life left in it and was threadbare. I want to lose at least 80 more pounds by summer.
