Happy Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for you. Thank you for being fabulous and for being you!
Today we will have 13 people over, and I still have to clean my kitchen and make my stuffing, but I wanted to come by and tell you how much I lurb you!
I ate a little more than I had hoped in carbs, but you know what? I’m not sweating the yams or the sugar-free cranberry sauce. It was all delicious and filled with nutrients.
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.
Thursday, November 22
I ate this:
Breakfast: Velveeta Fudge (I need the fat)
Lunch: Yams, cranberry sauce, turkey, oopsie stuffing, green beans
Dinner: Yams, cranberry sauce, turkey, oopsie stuffing, green beans
Snack: Yams, cranberry sauce, turkey, oopsie stuffing, green beans
Exercise: Cleaning and moving furniture
Notes: I am not swayed to eat off-plan because I have to weigh in Monday. One of my favorite things about TOPS is that even though there are holidays, TOPS still has weigh ins every week, and I can’t afford to miss it! I really push myself to be accountable, and it’s hard to lie to a scale, now, isn’t it? Unless you yank the batteries…
What I learned:
People are more important than food.
As a former binger who could never get enough when there were carbohydrates on the line, today, instead of obsessing over rolls, pies, and bread stuffing, I am more excited about putting the most flavorful food I can on the table and enjoying everyone coming to my house to spend this day with us.
People love you. Food doesn’t even have arms to hug your neck.
“People love you. Food doesn’t even have arms to hug your neck.”
What an awesome statement, Jamie! Very powerful image.
How many times have we all found what we thought was comfort in food and so often, that very food, was really an enemy. We thought it hugged us back, but it really didn’t.
Thank you for so much, Jamie!!
Alice
Thank you.
I did well too! Here in Germany, they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving (don’t snort, you wouldn’t believe how many people asked me! My husband just said “ask them if they celebrate Oct 4th”) Anywho, besides the Germans not celebrating an American holiday (God knows why haha) and the fact the turkey is the female, and not the delicious Tom turkey. I decided to take my honey out for his favorite. A steak dinner. I didn’t eat much the whole day, cause I wanted to be good and hungry for dinner. haha. Anyway, I ate steak, roasted vegetables and a salad sans salad dressing. The only cheats I had were about 2 tablespoons of potato salad, (just had to taste it) and three very small pieces of bread. Although I missed turkey and all the fixin’s.
Your dinner sounds so nice!
Your menu looked fabulouso and you are amazing! I’m so impressed with what you’ve learned. I am still dealing with the problems of the carbs I ate, but for once I did jump right back on plan! Woo hoo bacon girl, you’re dabomb diggity!
Jeanette– I had that issue Friday and Saturday. I did fine on Thanksgiving! lol
