Hunting is a part of the culture I grew up in. Living in the country with a big family, this was a way to save money and also eat healthy.
No need to check the labels to see if it is organic when you know exactly where it came from. The meat is very lean and packed with protein. People not used to the taste of wild game should try this recipe! The sweetness from the peppers really goes well with this meat. If you can’t get your hands on venison, grass fed lean beef works too!
Healthy Sautéed Venison with Peppers
8oz Venison Steak (or grass fed lean beef)
6 tablespoons low sodium chicken broth
1 Red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 Yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
½ Purple onion, minced
½ tablespoon Kosher salt
Fresh ground pepper to taste
Drizzle Extra Virgin Olive Oil to taste
Slice the onion and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Heat 3 tablespoons chicken broth on medium in stainless steel skillet.
When broth begins to steam, add Venison Steaks and saute for 3 min on one side then turn and saute for 2 min on the other side. Remove and keep them covered.
In the same skillet add the remaining 3 tablespoons of chicken broth & add peppers and onions. Cover and saute for 7 minutes.
While the veggies are cooking, slice the steaks thinly.
When the veggies are done add the salt & toss with extra virgin olive oil and pepper to taste.
Top the veggies with the sliced venison steak and enjoy!

We hunt too & eat lots of deer. Thanks!
Wow, how awesome to see a recipe for game meat! My husband is a bowhunter and we have a freezer full of deer. It can be fussy to cook, so sometimes I avoid using it at all. You just solved that problem for me! Any more that you have up your sleeve or in your recipe box would be appreciated, too! Thank you!
I will post more game recipes in the future! I am so glad you find them useful too!
I have a freezer full of venison too. We do a similar recipe and instead of chicken broth, we use soy sauce and make it a stir-fry and serve with rice for those that are eating carbs. We slice the meat super thin while it is still half frozen and then cook fast. It is awesome! I appreciate any venison recipes too!
