Bacon cupcakes: Last year’s Birthday fare |
Whee! I am now on Day Seven of Induction! And I am seriously excited because I can have a Birthday dessert today that is induction friendly! I made them and they’re in the fridge now. I am going to share these recipes and pictures with you very soon.
Thank you so much for your well wishes and your Birthday wishes. I am starting to definitely feel human again–as opposed to, say, a venus fly trap. Those are super cool, but I tend to kill them even when I feed them grass fed beef. That and it’s hard to be friends with a plant that would digest you if it had the chance.
What has this first week taught me?
That I can be sick, addicted and positively miserable and survive. And I can even be sick on my Birthday (of all days), and it is no excuse for going off plan.
What can you do even if you’re a little bit blargy on your special day? Make an event of the day anyway. This is about celebration and loved ones and not about food. Get one of those little tingaling bells and have people service you and bring you things. Like bacon. And presents. And more bacon. And bacon. Ask them to rub that funny little spot on your foot. If you really want to be funny, you might write something there like, “Help me! Some weirdo is touching my foot!”
It’s as fun as an event as you want to make it, and I have decided I am always going to make the best of it. Good or bad, dressed like Iman and serving me tea or clad in sparkly leg warmers and doing the Cabbage Patch on my stomach, it’s still mine, right? The choice is yours, too.
Make it your best one yet,
Jamie

PS. Tomorrow is my first official weigh-in for one week of induction.
Bacon wrapped anything cupcakes sound like a fabulous way to celebrate a birthday! Hope you have a great one, and the weigh in tomorrow shows awesome results!

Happy Birthday Jamie!!
My induction went out the window… blaaaah
I will get started after the weekend… *yeah I know*
Truly, I will… good news is I am exercising a lot, like never before, hurray :))
H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y ! ! !
I am in day three of induction and it SUCKS. I re-read your post from day three and it helped remind me that day three sucks for everyone (probably). And knowing that by day seven you are feeling much better make me happy!
But ugh. The headaches, the desperation, the ridiculous desire for candy hearts…it is almost too much to bear. Almost. I can do it!
Oh, also, love your blog!
Happy Birthday! 🙂
I had a fantastic Birthday today.
Thank you so much Amanda, Anne, Isabel (who I'm now keeping an eye on), Rachel (who gets major hugs while I hide any loose bits candy hearts) and Jennifer.
Friends like you are the reason it's so easy to stick to my plan, even when the world is covered with gooey Birthday cake-y temptations!
Those bacon cupcakes look lovely! Do you have a recipe for them?
Love the blog by the way…. thanks for taking the time to write it 🙂
Pete– Why it's funny you should ask! Yes I do: https://blog.yourlighterside.com/2010/02/bacon-meatball-croquets.html
And thank you very much for your kind words!
