Thank you, new GE stove, for not catching on fire in advance.
Look! It is so shiny, the floor reflects in the door.
Shinnnyyyyyyyyyyy.
Ssshhhiiiiiinnnnnyyyyyyyy!
Look at how it glimmers! It glimmers! And you can see my feet. Hello, feet! And you can see me holding the camera. Hello me holding the camera!
I went with the coil cook top from GE because I use cast iron. I love cast iron, so I have to have it. The ceramic cook top just wasn’t zipping that cooking zap. I have had my GE fridge for about 15 years and I love it, so I feel that these appliances are super reliable.
So the oven’s not super fancy, but it is self-cleaning and has everything I need to make the things I want to share with you and with my family.
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.

I ate this:
Breakfast: The breakfast casserole (<—recipe) I just published.
Lunch: I am still stuffed from the casserole.
Dinner: New kitchen oven schtuffs. It is delicious!
Snack: A pinch of the new dish I’m developing + 4 green olives + 2 Tbsp shredded Parmesan cheese
Exercise: Cleaning the kitchen enough so as to not die from embarrassment when the guys delivered my new range.
Notes: I really wanted to go out and have Egg McMuffins today because, partially, of being nervous about my new stove coming, but the breakfast casserole made me just as happy, and without all of the gluten problems. I did dairy-out a little bit yesterday, so I’m trying to keep it dairy-free as much as I can today, just in case.
What I learned:
I learned that although I love having a single-coil burner and a crock pot, I really missed having an oven.
It goes to show how creative you can be without an oven, and proves that so options I have eating healthfully are pretty terrific, regardless the appliances I have on hand.
I now feel spoiled for even having an oven.

congratulations Jamie!!!

Thank you! I have had a lot of fun with it so far and can already tell that the coils work much better with the cast iron than the ceramic did.

Yay for a brand new oven!! 😀

I am so happy with it. It works wonderfully. It’s no-frills, but I don’t want frills; I just want a quality stove.

Looks like the same one I got a few months back, so nice! It’s a pleasure to do some Hoiliday Baking in it – it’s so much bigger inside : )
Jamie VanEaton says
Lisa– It really is roomy. I’ve had the same GE fridge for almost 15 years, so I love the GE brand for its longevity.

Jamie, be very careful with the self-cleaning feature of your new oven. I bought a new oven a couple of years ago with all the computerized clock, etc. on the top. The salesperson from Sears told me NOT to use the self-cleaning feature, because the heat that is emitted from the oven during the self-cleaning process will melt the computerized components. Just wanted to make you aware of this. I had no idea. When the oven needs cleaning, I get on my hands and knees to do it. I love my oven and am not about to “fry” the components using the self-cleaning oven feature. Also, if you have pets, the acrid smell that emits from the oven is poisonous for them, too. Another reason to clean by hand.
Jamie VanEaton says
That is good information! Thanks so much Sharon.
