Looking for some easy, fun ways to enjoy New Year’s without falling off of the wagon and swallowing the horse?
Take the evening away from worry and indulge in these easy finger foods.
1. Olive bar. Olives are an amazingly versatile food. They’re stable at room temperature, high in fat, and Safeway has the perfect fresh selection of this tree fruit for your buffet.
2. Cheese cubes aplenty. New Year’s is the perfect time to splurge a little on some cheeses you might have been eying up but have never tried.
3. Taco dip and Flax crackers. I mention these together, because this duo is the Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire of the delicious world. The taco dip is incredibly easy to prepare in advance, the flax crackers are the perfect way to hold the dip without carb impact–plus with its omegas, flax crackers are also providing the benefits of healthy living.
4. Sparkling Diet Ginger Ale. Perfect with added sugar free syrups for some fun festive flavors.
5. Fresh sliced meats. Whether rolled with cheese or secured with toothpicks, provide turkey, prosciutto, pepperoni and salami. Mustard and dill based dips on the side can provide the condiment feel without the bread.
I do love me some shrimp as well.
loving that cocktail 🙂

All great ideas! This year I will be attending a yoga and meditation class on New Year's Eve…they are serving chocolates and champagne…I am going to sneak in a protein shake!
I love this time of year…. "guy" food…. aka Low Carb stuff…. from tail gate season on to beef and cheese log season!
Happy New Year – to you and yours!
Jamie,
Love you and your work. Some good suggestions. If that diet ginger ale has aspartame, that could be playing with fire. Aspartame is an exitotoxin (overstimulates neurons) that can mess with leptin receptors in the hypothalamus. Messed up leptin receptors means out of control eating. Also, the omega-3 in flax only converts to the useful forms (DHA/EPA) at a rate of 1-3% in the body. Not a really great way to incease n3. Maybe a salmon dip?
Great posts! Thank you so much!
