It is October, you sweet ghoulies and boos!
My sweet sweet pumpernickel pickles, I went to TOPS today
Ready for this?
My loss for this week: 1.25 pounds
My losses for 5 weeks: 19.50 pounds
Total for all of our friends so far in this Mid-Year Resolution Challenge: 793.27 pounds!
It should have been more, but I knew the pizza toppings situation was going to haunt me indefinitely. I am ready to not cheese it up so much from here forward and have some ideas I will share with you soon! I also have pictures of the treadmill desk in progress, and will have more of a tutorial for you another time.
Now what I had yesterday… First of all, here’s the plan I’m following and here is the introduction post to the Mid-Year Resolution Challenge. While you look at what I’m doing, be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled to give some ideas, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). I am, however, here with you to cheer you on when you’re so skinny you will have to watch slipping through the cushions of your couch.
Oh, and those nachos are coming on Monday! Stay tuned!
Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top!
You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for the daily play-by-play and to see what I’m doing. Whee!
Monday, October 1
I ate this:
Breakfast: Snack platter: Olives + pepperoni + cheese + grape tomatoes
Lunch: Hot dog + cheese+ LC ketchup + mustard + onions
Snack: 1/3 cup mixed nuts
Dinner: Chipless nachos
Exercise: Walked and worked for 1 hour at my treadmill desk at 1 mph.
Notes: I have a super-busy writing schedule today! Eep!
What I learned:
I miss how amazing hair styling products smell.
Sometimes when I am not feeling like it’s worth the effort–OK, make that the last 3-4 years, I just put no effort into myself. Ponytail goes up (and when it’s too long, goes into a bun), makeup I bought 3-4 years ago is typically caked up, and the earrings I loved in the 80’s are finally making a comeback.
I went ahead and, even though I have a lot of weight left to lose, got a quick haircut. My hair was so long that I suspect that was partly why it kept getting pulled out at the roots, too.
With 6-10″ shorn (I typically donate to Locks of Love, but I didn’t have enough this time), I have a super-cute bob and I am using some of my styling products (erm, that have been around for a while) for a tiny bit of lift, and my hair smells super cute and oh so pretty!
It makes me realize that I don’t have to be at goal to do something for myself that makes me feel a little bit fancy.
Be a little fancy.
Photo please – Let’s see the new hairstyle! I love my hair long but agree too often it just gets pulled back which doesn’t suit me, so am debating getting it cut too. I need inspiration!
Linda, as soon as I hit goal, I’ll take pictures of my in leather chaps if you want too. Right now, I have a face suited for radio.
Good for you, to do that. Yes it does make me feel better as well. I went in last time just asking for a few wispy bangs and I come out with not only the bangs but 3 inches shorter (hair not me, LOL!). But swingy and made me feel good. Hmm, I’ll bet all that hair weighed at least 5 pounds, ya think???? :o) Keep up the good work and for keeping us motivated and laughing!
Nancy! the ladies from TOPS joked with me and asked what I’d do to lose weight next week. I told them I’d shave my legs.
OK, so let’s see the new hairdo!
And super congrats on the amazing weight loss!
I kept my 80’s earrings, too, and isn’t that a good thing because they are right in style again!
And yes, would love to see pictures of your treadmill desk. Or pictures of you with your new hairdo at your treadmill desk.
You will definitely see two pictures of the desk today. I am holding off on more pictures until hubby finishes retro fitting the entire desktop (right now it’s just fiberboard–which does a great job, but isn’t as finished.
Good for you! I love getting my hair done. Even if I didn’t really need it it’s nice to be pampered once in awhile 🙂
I think I have mmy hair cut every 3-4 years. I figure I’m going more girly here to remind me that pampering during weight loss isn’t a waste, and being overweight isn’t a death sentence.
good for you hon!! We are all proud of your progress both in weight loss and self exploratory successes 😀 X!!
I know the feeling though, I had packed on the weight after having being cured of my irritable bowel and could and did eat anything and everything.
Somehow it crept in my mind that I shouldn’t buy anything nice for myself (like clothes with a shape, no matter what size) until I had lost some weight again.
Total BS of course as making yourself feel and look good always gives such a boost in self esteem that others around you can immediately tell.
Always love yourself and others will follow ^_^
I am also jealous, I would love a bob but it tends to look schoolmarmish on me so I let it grow long, which hubby dearest loves anway xxxxxxxxx and keep up the good work!
It is always so nice to hear all of the ways a change in diet has helped! I agree with you that everything is a victory. And since we would tell our friends to do something fun, why not do for us as we’d do for others?
I finally changed my hairstylea couple of months ago from what I had had for probably 10 to 15 years. I’ve had a lot of comments about how good it looks, which leaves me with the though of “was it really that bad before???” Keep up the amazing good work, Jamie, you have to put yourself in the number 1 spot sometime. One quick question, while you post your meals, you don’t post portions and I’m curious as portion size is my downfall…it tastes so good I’ll just have a little more. So for pepperoni slices, how many would you eat? And how do you keep your potions under control?
Vikki– I’ll bet the new haircut really shows off the changes to your health, too. Maybe your losses have been subtle, but the cut is what people tend to notice. It’ll be like, “Is there something different about you?” lol
I typically eat 10-16 slices and cut an ounce of cheese to match. I’m not as scientific about it as I have been in the past. I try to hit the close amounts.
I don’t post portion sizes for a few reasons: 1. If I am hungry, I eat. If not hungry, I don’t; 2. People tend to either lecture me or follow suit, and what I do personally isn’t what I recommend others should necessarily do.; 3. Sometimes I eat 3-5 mini meals and sometimes I might eat 2 mega meals a day; that’s not attainable for many; 4. I’m lazy; as it is, I barely get what I ate in the daily posts at all!
I keep portions under control probably only 90% of the time. I overdid pizza toppings last week and had more nuts lately, and I need to quit all of them. I am working on it.
That should be “portions”, not “potions”, lol.
It is almost Halloween after all! Muahahahahahahahaha! OK. I’ll edit… *sigh*
I changed my hairstyle a couple of months ago, after having the same one for over 10 years. After receiving so many comments on how good it looked I was left wondering if that other one was really that bad?! You have to put yourself in the number 1 spot sometimes and do something nice for yourself. I have a question about your portion sizes…while you post sometimes about pepperoni slices for lunch, etc, how many slices are we talking? Portion control is a huge issue for me, how do you keep it under control?
