A basic white sauce plus cheese makes the perfect base for this delicious, six cheese chicken casserole.
White sauce is a great base to many an other sauce, including alfredo*. Absolutely easy to make, you’ll quickly see how versatile this recipe is by simply adding dill, Parmesan cheese or cheddar cheese.
Basic White Sauce
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 tsp Thickenthin/Not starch
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 tsp pepper
Over medium/low heat in a saucepan, melt butter. Add Thicken/Thin, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly.
Remove from heat. Add cream and pepper. Return to heat and bring to a simmer, stirring often.
Makes 1 cup white sauce.

Hi there! I would use arrowroot flour or cornstarch–but really, I would even say just cook it down slightly and it will thicken on its own.
