Looking for a wonderful, tasty, tempting protein snack in bite-sized dollops of tube-filled fun?
Packed with 4 grams of protein per delicious cookie bite, Wholesome Meal’s Snack Bites are gluten-free, low-carb and made with organic and all-natural ingredients. I love these little bites so much, it was hard to not overindulge, but at only 3 net carbs per protein-filled bite, little guilt was to be had.
Sold in tubes (6 servings each), each container is easy to transport and store, and can be recycled afterwards (Or used for craft/office supplies. They’re pretty terrific). The labeling is easy to read and understand, which makes the product as visually and mentally rewarding as they are gastronomically pleasing. I also love their ‘wholesome promise’:
- 100% natural
- We use Organic and 100% all natural, non-GMO ingredients
- We Follow the EWG’s Shopper’s guide to pesticide in produce
- Always low in carbs and sugars
Take these along for school lunches, after-school snacks, with coffee as a protein side, and post-workout energy boosts. There’s literally something for every taste profile:
Vegan Cran Almond ♥♥♥♥♥
Delicious, and one of my very favorites of the five flavors I tried, organic vegan proteins meld with heart-healthy non-GMO almond butter, and organic cranberries rich in antioxidants for bites too addicting to put down. Each protein-filled 1.5″ bite is only 61 calories and 3 net carbs (4 total, 1 gram of fiber) and contains: Non-GMO almond butter, Proventive organic vegan protein (yellow pea protein isolate, organic sprouted brown rice protein concentrate, organic hemp protein concentrate, cranberry protein, chis protein) organic rice crisps (organic brown rice flour, organic evaporated cane juice, sea salt, organic molasses), sulfite free dehydrated cranberries, flax seeds, and pure cane molasses.
Chia Chocolate ♥♥♥♥♥
These bites were the universal favorite among family members. The Chia Chocolate snack bites are made with organic peanut butter, organic chocolate, chocolate organic rice crisps and all natural whey protein isolate. Each protein-filled 1.5″ bite is only 57 calories and 3 net carbs (4 total, 1 gram of fiber). I loved the little pops of crunch with each bite, and the kids appreciated the understated chocolate. The combination is pleasantly sweet, but not so much so that you felt you needed a glass of milk to wash it down.
Sunny Honey ♥♥♥♥♥
With hints of refreshing orange zest and hints of crunch, organic sunflower butter and raw honey make each bite a bright, flavorful event. Each protein-filled 1.5″ bite is only 59 calories and 3 net carbs (4 total, 1 gram of fiber) and is refreshingly hearty, yet light. It’s literally like a little bit of happy in a tube. I say pairing these with coffee or sugar-free hot cocoa would be like my little slice of heaven. The pairing of the citrus here with the earthy body of honey…ahh. It’s my second favorite of all of the snack bites for its complexity and because of the pure enjoyment I had with the complex, purely enjoyable flavors.
Peanut Butter ♥♥♥♥♥
Vegan proteins meld with heart-healthy non-GMO almond butter, and organic cranberries rich in antioxidants for bites too addicting to put down. Each protein-filled 1.5″ bite is only 61 calories and 3 net carbs (4 total, 1 gram of fiber) and contains: Non-GMO almond butter, Proventive organic vegan protein, organic rice crisps, sulfite free dehydrated cranberries, flax seeds, and pure cane molasses. The molasses, here, is hinted at, but it lends some flavor depth to the peanut butter. I mean, come on; peanut butter can be overdone. Leave it to these guys to kick it up a notch. I only rate this one at three stars because the others are so much fun, there had to be one that didn’t zip my bip quite as much. For the carbs, I would go with the Sunny Honey all day long.
Nutty Monkey ♥♥♥♥♥
The crunch is addicting, so it’s no wonder I can’t stop munching these little protein-filled bites. Forget the fact that they’re filling and contain hormone-free whey isolate for more staying power, made with organic peanut butter, each 1.5″ bite is only 55 calories and 3 net carbs (4 total, 1 gram of fiber) and contains: About Time 100% all natural whey protein isolate, organic rice crisps, flax seeds, and pure cane molasses. With so much to offer, these came in as my third favorite because it took peanut butter to the next level.
My final word? Thoroughly addicting, pleasing, and healthy, the only thing that could hurt is overdoing a good thing. Used for the power of protein in lunches, and in pre-proportioned amounts, these are a terrific option as a meal enhancement (or even dessert), and the tubes make travel so easy. It’s nice to see a company work so hard to meet the needs of so many who have to avoid glutens, animal products, and GMO foods.
Because of their efforts to make a quality product that tastes better than healthy, I have a heck of a lot of respect for Wholesome Meal and these terrific little healthy, protein-rich Snack Bites. Alas, I would have you try mine, but I have none left to share.
Thankfully, you can score your own.

Hi, I tried to buy these on-line and could not buy less than 6 of one flavor or the variety pack of 6 tubes. I could not find the buy 3 get one free special but maybe that is only in stores. I guess I will wait until they come to my area stores. They do look good though.
Where did you buy these?
I was sent these for review. If I bought, it would be online through their store.
Thanks for the “heads-up”….am on my way to their webeite…………….your a doll!
Thanks so much, Jamie. I just ordered the 6 assorted tubes and can’t wait to try them. They sound like just the ticket for a healthy low carb bit of sweetness at the end of the day.
They are fabulous! And if portion control becomes a problem, keep them in the freezer. It really helps!
That really made me laugh, Jamie. Portion control is ALWAYS an issue. Like, who can eat one slice of bacon? And I can’t think of any desert that sticking in the freezer would make a difference. I will simply have to make a reasonable portion a part of my allowed carb count. I will report back when they arrive.
Sounds great!
