Hello my pretty-scented flower bouquets!
Just a quick reminder because I love you more than the sunshine loves the bees: ads on my site are not necessarily my viewpoints.
I am so thankful to have an amazing advertising company working for me, and even when as ad is not always what I might buy or support, it’s so helpful and keeps me in groceries so I can create wonderful foods for you. I will, though, be happy when the elections are over. I mean whew! I need a nap. Wake me up after November 2.
Today I thought aloud to my quite dapper husband, “You look nice, but I wish you could stay home all day and just lounge around in your underwear.”
My 20-year-old son in the rooms shouts, “Hey! I do that now!”
Progeny, thou art sufficient romance death.
Now what I had yesterday… First of all, here’s the plan I’m following and here is the introduction post to the Mid-Year Resolution Challenge. While you look at what I’m doing, be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled to give some ideas, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). I am, however, here with you to cheer you on when you’re so skinny you will have to watch slipping through the cushions of your couch.

I ate this:
Breakfast: My favorite snack platter for a quick energy pick-me-up.
Lunch: Fresh-sliced tomatoes and onions
Dinner: Pizza scrapings/toppings from a Papa Murphy’s Cowboy pizza. So yummy!
Exercise: Walked and worked for 2 hours at the treadmill desk.
Notes: I love cannibalizing my kids’ burgers. He ran to Carl’s Jr. for lunch, and their tomatoes and onions are to die for. I think my favorite fast food burger is a Culver’s Butter Burger. Have you ever had one? They are delicious. It might not be a coincidence, then, that Culvers also hails from Wisconsin, my home state. On Wisconsin!
I also totally swiped the toppings off of pizza and have no guilt. I am so glad I stay away from the wheat; it makes me legs crawl all night. Boo!
What I learned:
Today I learned that being on my feet breeds more being on my feet.
Being on my bum leads to more being on my bum.
I have used my new treadmill desk this week, and you might think I’m really tired after two hours of walking 2 miles while working (I am normally sitting for 10+ hours a day working). The crazy discovery I have made is that the more I walk and work, the more I want to be on my feet. The more I sit, the less I want to get up to do something.
How is that for a paradigm shift?
So I am learning so many new things about myself.
I guess Newton might be right for more than his Fig cookies: An object in motion tends to stay in motion.
Who would have thought that?
OK, what is a butter burger? And…I did eat at a Michigan fast food restaurant in Michigan (many moons ago) who hailed from Wisconsin! I do not remember their name…do they serve hamburgers on regular white bread as one of their selections? If so….I think it mist be the same chain!
I was the original eat ONE meal a day girl…..I now get hungry three times a day…I do believe that I have re-trained my metabolism….and sometimes I even add an evening snack! I believe this is a good thing!
Breakfast…oh, I confess….I couldn’t wait to eat those meatballs you featured the last day of August! They were breakfast at 6 a.m.
Mid a.m. Snack…I tried to make ice cream with my magic bullet….it didn’t work….but the resulting goo…(not frozen) was still delicious! I will alttempt this again….I used to make it all the time….it is one scoop of chocolate whey, ice cubes, one tsp cocoa, and sweetener…a few drops of vanilla…..and a couple of ounces heavy cream and whiz away! I think I did not use enough ice! It is a whole low carb meal in a cup! Tastes like Hagen D!
I have ground beef defrosting and today’s meatloaf in a mug sounds just right! And I will make extra and have no cooking tomorrow! Yeah!
Regards,
Glad
Everything sounds so good!
A butter burger is a hamburger fried in butter, I’m thinking. I’m not 100% sure, but I like this, buttery patties and those are them.
Good for you, Jamie!!! I’m gonna try to start walking tomorrow and hope to be able to do it everyday, although there are some days when life gets in the way and I have to take care of so many people, I won’t have time to take care of me. But, as long as I keep eating the low carb way, I think I’ll do good. 🙂
It’s hard to exercise when you have so many responsibilities, and at the same time, it helps get those things taken care of, because you have added energy most of the time from the increase in feel-good endorphins and blood flow.
Jamie, I love your snack platter. I remember when you blogged it a while back…I thought “that gal’s eating style is definitely mine.” I too like simple, delicious food. And the contrast in textures makes this platter so much fun to eat. I substitute turkey or vegetarian pepperoni because I’m on South Beach. Thanks for the reminder of this great eat! Have a great day!
Sheryl, I’ll bet the turkey pepperoni is so delicious! It is such a quick, easy way to get all of the munchy needs met, but while being filling, too.
I am ashamed to say, I like bologna, and I know it is garbage meat made from all sorts of things, like floor sweepings, but I like it! I like the chunk kind, cut in little squares with some cheese cubes and pickles and olives…yum. When I was a kid my mom would fry bologna slices sometimes when she was too busy to cook and it was good. I also like weiners….is that awful? love the oscar mayer ones. Guess that junk meat is my guilty pleasure. otherwise I try to eat stuff that is not so processed…..
I say do what works for you. We did Atkins in the 80’s when my Dad was broke and we thrived on less-than-pristine food. Eggs, sandwich meats and mixed nuts kept us going, along with substandard hot dogs, sausage and bacon. Oh, and ?Diet Coke! But we still managed to lose weight and feel great.
Do what you can with what you have.
the funny part is, we have our own grass fed longhorn cattle, so we have good meat. I just like junk, I guess. 🙂 We also have chickens and the eggs are wonderful, but I couldn’t eat my chickens. seems personal somehow.
Chickens are kind of cute…
We LOVE Culver’s and yes their butter burger sans bun and greens beans make a GREAT meal!
I so agree… I want one now! 😀
