Tomorrow I get to weigh-in and I’m so thrilled!
I love love love that I’ll be able to step on the scale and see how far I’ve come because of my diligence, and know that I will be able to have this same gift, and this same opportunity for the next 18 or so weeks. You can do this with me. Come on!
Now for the funny thing: My husband said to me, “Do you realize that you just said you get to weigh in? Usually you always say you have to weigh in.”
Whoa nelly and her knickers. Talk about a mental shift!
Now what I had yesterday… First of all, here’s the plan I’m following and here is the introduction post to the Mid-Year Resolution Challenge.
While you look at what I’m doing, be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled to give some ideas, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). I am, however, here with you to cheer you on when you’re so skinny you will have to watch slipping through the cushions of your couch.

Sunday, September 9
I ate this:
Breakfast: None. I slept in because of the wheat! (Keep reading)
Lunch: 1/2 huge Chipless Nachos + beverages
Dinner: 1/2 huge Chipless Nachos + beverages
Late Night:
Notes: I am so energetic today! I walked around the property and helped take measurements for the septic tank we’re putting in, I am doing laundry, and I’m getting caught up on my writing assignments in short order. I love being able to work like this without feeling tired. Yay!
Today I learned:
When dining out, I need to call ahead and ensure my choices are truly wheat-free options.
I thought I had planned well in terms of the dinner I purchased last night at Cheesecake Factory. I researched the Steak Diane and the Shrimp Scampi. Nowhere did I think wheat was on the menu, but it was.
Though I avoided the carb-laden loaves placed before me and hungrily anticipated dinner, I didn’t in any way anticipate the crawly, jumpy legs I’d have to deal with later that night because of wheat in the meal. I was also really gnawingly hungry after eating–something that never happens normally. I knew I was in trouble.
I woke up with a stuffy nose (another sign of wheat inflammation/allergy) and knew I should have taken diligence that extra step.
I spent entirely too much on a meal that made me entirely miserable.
Next time, I’ll do the research. It’s worth it. I’m worth it, and you’re worth it.
Make the best choices, learn from mistakes, and always keep your guard up. You’re going to be terrific!
YAY!! Good luck, Jamie!! You’re gonna do great!!! 🙂
*fingers crossed*
How did you know there was Wheat in the meal?
Hi, Justine! It was in the sauces and I believe in the “spicy crusting” of the shrimp. The lighting in the restaurant was so dark, I couldn’t see. I did, however, suffer all of the symptoms of wheat consumption later, from being ridiculously hungry to having crawling legs to nasal congestion.
Oh wow,, I have that a lot too. I may have to check into what I can do. Good luck with your weigh in
Good luck and so glad you are having more energy!
I feel so terrific! I still don’t want to clean my kitchen, though. :^O
good luck tomorrow! It’s my weigh in day but I’m terrified. I haven’t eaten “bad” but I’ve been consuming too many “legal” carbs. Scary. I’m actually thinking if I slept through tomorrow, I could avoid the scale altogether :p
Let me know how you did, and thanks for your well-wishes! I didn’t lose as much as I had hoped the second week, so I’m going to start making a few changes.
I get awful symptoms from wheat as well. I really enjoyed the book Wheat Belly by Dr. Davis, although I’ll always stay faithful to the South Beach Diet. So glad you’re feeling better!
Sheryl, I have heard great things about Wheat Belly! I sussed out my intolerances through Dr. Julia Ross’ book The Diet Cure. She is incredible. I can’t tell you how much more like my old self I feel these days.
