I just had the opportunity to review Zevia for the National column, and let me tell you what: this was good stuff.
Forget what you thought you knew about diet sodas. If you’re used to regular, high-carb beverages, or Diet Coke and other highly-flavored drinks, Zevia might come as a surprise. I’d given up Diet Coke a couple of months ago, and found I really appreciated the light, natural flavors of this stevia-sweetened product.
Want to try the product yourself? They are giving free samples for a limited time. You pay shipping and handling. Or, if you’re already bought in, save $5 on your next case of Zevia. Just use code cleochatra5 at checkout.
I did the “free sample” thing a couple of weeks ago and tried it. I’m glad to hear that it’s getting positive reviews from someone. I think Zevia is a great idea in theory, and I was really hoping I would like it. But I’m sad to say I despised it. Every flavor. The aftertaste didn’t last as long as it does with most diet sodas, but I thought the initial taste and quick aftertaste were absolutely terrible.
I may not be the best person to give a review here, since I have yet to enjoy the taste of any diet soda I’ve ever tried. (I worry that I will never be able to end my love affair with good old regular Pepsi.) I think I was hoping that it would be different enough from other diet drinks for me to like it. Oh, well.
Girl I am so so glad your back, I have missed my cleo fix. I was getting double duty with this column and your National column as well, then suddenly all gone :o( boo hoo; Anyway hope ya’ll have a fabo time and I’m glad you had a safe trip.
I ordered the free samples will let you know what I think after they arrive.
Thanks,
Vikki
I wonder when this is coming to a store near me here in little ol’ Indiana.
I am way too addicted to Diet Coke. I need to find something else!
Pooh. $4 handling??? $8.80 shipping was a bit too steep for me to try it out! I guess I’ll just have to wait.
I tried it, too. I’m a diet soda drinker and this did NOT do it for me. I have to agree with Tracey…
I *wanted* to like it!
I really like Diet Rite cola with splenda.. I’m trying to kick the aspartame habit. I’m in Canada, so I probably can’t try the Zevia thing, but since I’m not a fan of stevia, that’s probably just as well.
Count me in the “I’ve MISSSSSSED you!!” crowd!
My boys and I hunted some Zevia down today at our local QFC. They hid it in the produce section of all places. We were pretty thirsty by the time we found it, and we really liked it. It IS very light and refreshing and while it isn’t as sweet as most soda, my boys who are 8 and 6 enjoyed the heck out of it…and they would really prefer their oxygen coated in sugar so that’s saying something.
We tried the orange and lemon-lime because that’s all they had. I look forward to hunting down the other two flavors.
Also! Glad that you are back. I haven’t commented before but I really enjoy your blog and recipes, you’re very inspiring to me!
Amy
Hi Cleo! Glad you’re back! (Faithful reader of your blog and LCFer here)
I guess I am in the minority, because I loved Zevia from the very first sip! I was surprised since I was a Diet Pepsi fanatic. I just ordered 2 more cases of it (it’s just slightly cheaper than buying it at Earth Fare, as long as I get a coupon code).
I tried Diet Rite the other day when I was at my mother in laws and it was so sweet, I couldn’t even finish it. I guess my tastes have changed.
