What do you think of those scrumptious shrimps in the pictue? I am going to be sharing a new dipping sauce I made this weekend very soon. It’s like shrimp crack.
Now to the weigh-in.
It’s Monday, and you know what means: TOPS weigh-in! Weigh-in, in fact, for all of us. How did you do last week? Are you still hanging in there? Remember, even if you eat off-plan for Thanksgiving, you get right back on the wagon and keep going.
Why weigh Mondays for this challenge? Because it typically keeps people honest on the weekends, the most difficult days to stick to healthy eating and habits. I know without Monday weigh-ins, I’d probably be much more naughty. Knowing I have to face the scale each week keeps me honest because I know short-term choices can have longer-term repercussions.
This week I am down 9 pounds!
My total losses so far since August: 61 pounds
Total for all of our friends so far in this Mid-Year Resolution Challenge: 1474.09 pounds!
Keep it up, everyone! We have about 3 weeks left before New Year’s Eve!
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.
Monday, December 10
I ate this:
Breakfast: Nothing. I never eat before TOPS
Lunch: (at TOPS) 5ish baby carrots, a couple of snap peas, and a couple of grape tomatoes, some ranch, three cheese cubes, and then two small pieces of cantaloupe and a tiny smidge of honeydew melon + Taco Star Nachos with corn chips (I had about 2/3 and gave the rest to my chirruns)
Dinner: Garden Salad + Crustless Pizza Bowl at Cicis
Exercise: Cleaning and laundry. The usual. I miss my treadmill desk. I need to use it again.
Notes: I set up a stupid prank today and then forgot about it. It’s a bummer when you’re ready to pull one on your kids, only to find they found it before you had the chance to set them up! Ha ha! I guess the joke was on me today.
What I learned:
I am going to Cici’s Pizza tonight to treat the kids to a special, end-of-the-semester, fun free-for-all. I am going to staple my lips shut so that I’m not tempted by pizza toppings and sauces and whatever else is there. I’ll report how I did when I get back.
I did great! I had a side salad and a pizza bowl, and then I tossed in some extra fresh mushrooms and onions and it was positively terrific! I don’t even feel like I overdid it, something I was worried about. I think mentally preparing makes all the difference.
Jamie, that is phenomenal! You are rockin’ the weight loss!
Thanks so much, Julie. And what’s more, I am so happy with my food that I can’t imagine eating any other way (I mean in general; I typically eat my own cooking).
Congratulations on your great success!! I was wondering if you could blog some time about your “naked” taco star nachos. It sounds awesome and would be great for the rest of us to re-create at home. Maybe not a full on recipe, but a breakdown is probably all that would be needed. Thanks for having such an outstanding and motivating blog!
Jennifer– I could do my best to deconstruct one and see what it takes. I am usually too busy eating. This will be an exercise in self control, to say the least… 😀
Great for you, Jamie! 9 pounds? WOWZERS! I lost 4.5 this week. Now, we know what you eat on Mondays, but what about a couple other typical days of the week? I would LOVE to lose 9 pounds in one week!! I know everyone is different, though. I did low carb about 10 years ago and lost 54 pounds. I kept it off as long as I did lower carbs, but once I started eating a little bread, or a little cereal, or holiday treats, it all piled back on and more, plus I am 10 years older. UGH. Well, I am determined to do it again. Back when I did this before there weren’t the people like you out there with recipes and fab pesonalities to encourage one another with a few laughs along the way. We are blessed! Have a wonderful day!
Hi, Joan! I say 4.5 is so much better. Mine was mostly water weight from a whooshie, so that is not normal! It also meant a couple of weeks of slower losses to get to the whooshie phase. I’m no young chicken, so I know this is the way I need to go for losses and energy. I love keto.
Yeah Jamie!!! Way to hang in there!!! What is the
“pizza bowl” that you had at CiCi’s?
Keep up the great work!!!
It was, Sarah! I love that they offer them–and it saves them having me toss a bunch of their crusts in the process if I had to scrape toppings.
*sigh* 9 pounds Jamie? 9? Why cant that be me? I lost 2.5 lbs.
But 61 lbs is PHENOMENAL!!!!! You go girl!!
Thank you so much, AdriAnne! It’s nowhere near the 100 I had hoped to lose by New Year’s Eve, but I am really thrilled, nonetheless!
Hi Jamie – may I wask what your weight loss goal is? PS – WAY TO GO! You are an inspiration, I can’t wait for your recipes on a daily basis. I’m currently addicted to your american cheese microwave ‘crackers’. Soooo good with guacamole!
Hi, Lori! You are so sweet. Thanks so much for your positive words. My goal is unclear at this time because I’m not sure what I’m supposed to weigh. I mean, I know what we were supposed to weigh in our early 20’s in the 80’s, but not in our early 40’s in 2012. I am going to have to research that. Thanks for moving me towards action! But, to answer less specifically, I have a lot left to go. I look forward to shedding that, too.
Wow, congrats – when you started I didn’t see how anyone could lose the amount you were talking about in the timeframe you were talking about, but now I think you can!
I don’t think I’ll lose much more than 10 more pounds, if that, but I am really thankful and pleased for all I have lost to far. I just feel so much better!
Whoosh is good, Congratulations. Barely 5 months and what a change. you must be really feeling the difference.
I’m off the scales but not off my program. Away from home which means my next weigh in will be the last of 2012 and right after Christmas Feasting.. Will be interesting to see whether i lose or maintain through December.
Blessings
I am really proud of you for continuing your efforts towards health, even away from the scale! It’s kind of exciting knowing you’ll be facing the scale when you get back. That will be your reward for good behavior.
Ok….so where is the shrimp dip recipe? Di you forget to post it? My mouth is watering as I look at those savory shrimp and that di
p looks wonderful! Please post!! lol =)
