Happy day to you! I hope this December is treating you well so far!
It’s Monday, and you know what means: TOPS weigh-in! Weigh-in, in fact, for all of us. How did you do last week? Are you still hanging in there? Remember, even if you ate off-plan for Thanksgiving, get right back on the wagon and keep going.
Why weigh Mondays for this challenge? Because it typically keeps people honest on the weekends, the most difficult days to stick to healthy eating and habits. I know without Monday weigh-ins, I’d probably be much more naughty. Knowing I have to face the scale each week keeps me honest because I know short-term choices can have longer-term repercussions.
After last week’s gain of .25 pounds, this week I am down .25 pounds! Hey, I’ll take it.
My total losses so far since August: 52 pounds
Total for all of our friends so far in this Mid-Year Resolution Challenge: 1459.81 pounds!
Keep it up, everyone! We have about 4 weeks left before New Year’s Eve! It’s never too late to get started and make good habits a reality before New Year’s Eve!
Now on to how I’ve been doing with our Mid-Year Challenge… Be sure to do your thing. I am thrilled share my progress and thoughts, but I’m not the person you should necessarily look to for dieting advice (I’m not a paid nosh-a-titian). Be sure to subscribe for updates by adding your email right (in the sidebar) or through Feedburner in the title bar up top. You can also click the tab up top that says Mid-Year Resolution for regular updates.
Monday, December 3
I ate this:
Breakfast: Coffee. I never eat before a TOPS weigh-in.
Lunch: Huge Taco Star Nachos with the chips (almost 3 pm so super late lunch, early dinner. Is that Linner?)
Dinner: I am too full to even think about dinner
Exercise: Cleaning the house and locating my Christmas decorations. Wish me luck.
Notes: I am back to doing well and hope to lose a few pounds this next week!
What I learned:
I am so glad to continue to make strides towards losing weight through modified eating.
It’s not always easy trying to figure out what’s working and not working, but keeping a journal (as I do here with you) helps me to know what’s working for me and what isn’t. My baseline foods are the ones that I know don’t cause weight gain, and from those, I can branch out and try new foods that may or may not cause issues. Every bite is an experiment. It’s not always easy, and there aren’t always weight losses as a result, but I learn through doing and recording. Thanks so much for keeping me company in the process as we all work towards health and weight loss!
Great stuff Jamie! Can’t wait for your savory recipes!
Thank you, Sarah! I am in the kitchen today working on my next 8 recipes, and I cannot wait to share them with you.
So, you are an editor/copy writer! No wonder your grammar, sentence, and paragraph structure are so delightful. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. We readers may not send thanks enough, but do not doubt your efforts are most appreciated.
Nora, you are so kind! My sometimes errors are made about 100 times worse when I don’t bother to proof my own copy carefully enough. I am employed by other companies and business owners to provide compelling copy and to edit work, but when it comes to my own site, I typically let ‘er rip and don’t pay much attention to what I’m doing. I’m usually armpit-deep in almond flour and daikon radish experiments! I go a little Bill Nye hyper. Cooking rules!
speaking of editing, your grammar, sentence, and paragraph structure IS so delightful ! *sigh*
Aw now. You’re making me blush! Thank you. *Hugs my Chicago Manual of Style*
I am a newly widowed woman with 59 years of bad habits that has JUST begun re-inventing herself. I am on day 4 of Atkins/LCHF. I have 75 lbs to lose. I’ve lost weight dieting in the past (including a stint on Atkins) but I’ve never made it a longterm, lifestyle change. At a turning point in my health, I’m determined to make it this time. (With strength from my Higher Power!).
All this is to say how grateful I am for you and what you do. Not only are you an inspiration, you are a lifeline to a supportive community with fabulous recipes and tools I can use for success!
Never doubt that what you are and what you do matters!
Patty, thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate that you took the time to write and share what you are doing. I love how supportive everyone is for one another. I am also glad to be a part of helping out!
It’s me Andrea again. I logged in my weight loss of 1.2 pounds. After a two pound gain from Thanksgiving I will take it too. I am now less than 1 pound away from the lowest weight I have been in the last 10 years so yeah for me!
On another note, my hubby has been eating low carb with me lately but having a carby meal when travelling for work and he lost 7 pounds in one week! We both appreciate your recipes.
Wow! You both are doing so well! It’s nice having someone to take this journey with, too. I am really proud of you both and so thankful you took the time to let me know how you are both doing (and for your very generous words).
Hi Jamie. Challenging time of the year for us all. Your total loss over the last few months is impressive.
I’ve been bouncing around for what seems months. Every time I think I’ve got my act together something comes along to distract and break the flow.
I’m glad to report that I’m back on track today and my scales show a maybe loss. Lunch out tomorrow so that’s a small challenge to negotiate.
Blessing.
Yay, MargieAnne! I am so proud of you for sticking with it! I hope you have a loss AND an amazing lunch. You deserve both.
Hi there. I have been following your page for some time now, but have not received all the notifications so missed some stuff. What exactly is it that you are doing to lose weight? Are you following a specific plan or are you just using low carbs foods / recipes? Well done on your great weight loss so far. Regards. Astrid. South Africa.
Hi, Astrid! I am sorry to hear you’re not receiving all emails! You might be able to go into your preferences for the emails and change them to “Daily Digest” so you receive all of the links in one email per day! Per what I’m doing, I’m really sticking to 20 net or less carbohydrates per day and eating more than that once a week or so to keep my body guessing. The key has been eliminating foods that I’m intolerant to (like soy, wheat, MSG, and nightshades). Those cause inflammation when I eat them, which in turn cause weight gain and cravings.
