Happy Chinese New Year!
With a Nom and a nom nomnom!
I love ethnic food, and I love Chinese food in particular. I’m continuing to work to get some new, fun recipes for you to try all of the time. Thanks so much for your suggestions! I love you guys as much as is socially acceptable.
Back in the Saddle
I am back on Atkins after taking a few months to re-evaluate things (in other words, I ate off plan-burp). If you noticed, I haven’t posted any weight loss for some time. *whistling*
That’s because there haven’t been any losses to report!
Bom chicka bow bow!
ZOMG I = a bum!
I am pleased to report I didn’t regain it all, and I am totally not waiting to gain it all back prior to beginning again–which is new to me!
But let’s just say I restarted Atkins after some heavy contemplation and soul searching. I finally got it through my thick head that:
a. It’s not about screaming fast weight loss; and
b. I refuse go on vacation until I hit goal and sew my lips together and have my own kitchen while away from home.
OK, so it sounds a little crazy to say I’m not going on vacation but ZOMG PEOPLE! I went on vacation in July and NEVER fully recovered from it. I stress seriously when I’m traveling because there are a lot of things out of my control. When I’m not in my element, neither is the eating. and there you have it. On again, off again, on again off again, so the story goes…
So, if there are any conspiracy theories out there as to why I haven’t posted my weight loss in awhile, here are the facts of the case:
YES, I am back on plan.
YES there are a lot of great recipes coming this year.
NO I’m not perfect.
NO, my recipes and low-carb didn’t cause my downfall.
YES I stand by low-carb and the low-carb community despite pressure to change what I’m doing.
I will begin updating the stats again, beginning Monday with different numbers. My goal for this year? I could tell you, but then I’d have to eat you on a cauliflower crust. Stay tuned, and let’s share this journey together!
One thing I will say: I still fit into the pants I bought to celebrate my 86 pound loss!
I haven’t visited TOPS since I began working, which I think has hurt me. Once I get back down in weight I’ll start going again. They make you pay money when you gain weight, and if I put that many nickels in my pockets, I’d create a disturbance in the Force.
More Giveaways Coming!
On the up side, there are giveaways coming soon! I have some books to send to you guys! I need to get these suckers reviewed, but be on the look out for books from Taubes, Hahn, and Vonda Wright in the next few weeks!
I am blessed by readers and the support we have as a community. I am really enthusiastic about this year, its promises, its blessings and our friendship as we all become lesser people with greater potential!
I don’t care what WOE you choose or if you do it wearing a tutu and chanting in a foreign tongue. YOU ROCK, you Wizard of Oops!
I am just happy to keep getting these great recipes and reading your posts for a great chuckle as well as good information.
Woo Hoo! Back on plan! Great news! Low carb Rocks and so do you!
Being new to your blog, and thoroughly enjoying it, I was just wondering………….
Why do you belong to TOPS?
Extra incentive?
A former way of losing prior to low-carbing?
Socialization?
You are amazing, you are the MacGyver of low-carb. There, I said it. What can you possibly eat off-plan that you couldn’t jimmy-rig together with cauliflower and a spatula?
Welcome back to the wagon, I love reading this blog daily!
Hey ew! Thanks so much for your kind words! I am so happy to have a great support system of friends! You help me get through the pukey induction flu days! It’s like you’re here holding me hair back!
Lisa– I am so happy, too. I already feel much better. I had to stay out of the Apple Dapples. That cereal is like crack.
Squirrel– Hey there! Thanks so much! TOPS is def a high-carb plan dna I used to do the high arb thing.
Now it is awesome because it is a great support system of local folks who will overlook the fact that I’m following low-carb in a group of high-carb, low-cal folks. It holds you pretty accountable to have to face the scale, but it makes me grumpy when you have a water weight gain because it’s a gain! Poo! Still, it is a great group, not for profit, cheap, very friendly and super supportive. I think I pay $40 a year, get a monthly magazine and get to be around very special people who all root for each other to lose weight. I love it!
I definitely called an area captain prior to showing up to ensure there’d be no problem with a low-carber in their midst.
Anonymous! You made me ell oh ell! Thanks so much! I loved the comment!! Haaa!!!
Thank you!
Well, Anonymous is right. You ARE the MacGyver of low carb. You totally rock, and I don’t care what you weight. NOMB. But I’m glad you’re getting back to plan, because it’s better for you. You and your kids will be happier.
Keep the Taubes book. Underline it. Highlight it. Dog ear it. Low Carb is not just about losing weight. It’s about eating what our bodies were designed to eat.
And I love you back. As much as is socially acceptable.
Willie!!!
I’ve missed you! How have you been?
I love you, too, fella! As much as makes my ankles look slimmer and doesn’t get us slapped on Sunday, man!
I am a major fan of Taubes, and have definitely been writing in his book.
I have to echo what everyone else has said. We’re all with you, no matter how you eat, but we’re all glad your taking care of yourself. As far as the bloat, I can sooooo feel you on this point. One high carb meal and I blow up like a balloon and after a time off plan I can lose 10 lbs of water weight over night! I do love that effect of Atkins.
Welcome back, take care of yourself and hope to read more soon!

I totally know what you mean about travel and being out of your element. I have to travel a lot and each time I try not to fall off plan but I do. I started Induction 3 weeks ago and the 4 times I’ve gone off plan – yep due to travel.
One of the things I’ve been thinking about are what makes Atkins a harder diet to stay on for me. I’ve discovered that a lot of it has to do with quick meals, no planning, and portable food. We don’t tend to have too many “oh just grab a protein bar, bag of oatmeal” etc types of food. All our food has to be pre-made, planned out, and prepared. And a lot of it goes bad when sitting at room temp.
So I ask you and everyone else to please think up and share recipes that are fast to make, can be eaten and transported without a fridge, and good on the go. If I make Oopsies I’m set. I run out of time and I’m screwed. I have hard boiled eggs and string cheese, but those aren’t so great when trekking around Disneyland. Okay blather stops now!

Hey Vikki! You’re so right. The bloat! Argh! I’ve already lost 11 pounds in 2 days! That is water. Water. Water. Water. If carbs cause me to retain this much water, it’s scary! What is my body trying to tell me!
What are OUR bodies trying to tell us?!
Thanks so much for being so awesome! You are the coolio!
Cybil. That is something I struggle with to the max! I honestly had fewer excuses because I was at a home. I could have cooked and insisted on more meat choices, but I decided I’d just ‘be careful.’ (Insert huge gails of laughter here)…
I asked hubby that we not go anywhere this year. I just need to git r done.
Now, it might sound like a cop out to say that it was the vacation, but it was the excuse of traveling + the mentality that a little can’t hurt that did me in. ]
Being home, there are no excuses.
But I agree. It’s time to talk travel!
